Cost per Hour for a Pickup Truck

Cost per Hour for a Pickup Truck - Calculate Man Hours Cost per hour of a pick-up truck. In this article we will complete the calculation of the hourly cost of the pickup from the previous article.

Cost per Hour for a Pickup Truck. Here, we will calculate the costs per consumption and the costs per farm in order to arrive at the total cost per hour of the F150 truck.

In following figure, we highlight the Fixed costs already calculated in the previous post.

The figure elaborated by Gustavo Cinca, shows a summary of the cost factors to be considered when calculating the hourly cost of a pickup. Calculate manhours

Cost per Hour for a Truck – Consumption Costs

Cost per hour for fuel and lubricant

  • Assumptions:
  • The truck works 2000 hours per year.
  • Fuel consumption is 8.5 liters per hour.
  • The value of one liter of fuel is US$1.

Regardless of the above, we review below which are the main factors that affect fuel consumption.

  • The kind of driving.
  • Acceleration of the vehicle.
  • Driving speed.
  • The age of the vehicle.
  • Operational condition of the vehicle.
  • Ambient temperature.
  • The wind and its course.
  • Traffic.
  • Depending on whether it is driven into the city or on the motorway.
  • The engine revolutions.
  • The charge transported by the vehicle.
  • Kind and quality of fuel.
  • Road conditions.
  • Use of vehicle climate control, etc.

Typically, each company records each machine’s fuel consumption, for example, for one month, and then divides that consumption into the monthly working time of the machine.
This allows you to obtain the hourly fuel consumption of the equipment.

Engine oil cost

On the pick-up vehicle, the cost of the lubricant consumption is considered to be equal to 7% of the hourly cost of fuel.
The correct method to determine the oil consumption per hour in a machine is to record the consumption of all lubricants, for example, engine oil, hydraulic oil and transmission oil, from changes and recharges at the end of each month, then divide each data into monthly machine working time.

It is common to associate the lubricant consumption with the fuel consumption during the same period and to express the lubricant consumption as a percentage of the fuel cost per hour.

Tires Cost

In this example, we consider the truck tires have a very low lifespan of only one year because the vehicle is on bad roads.
We take the cost of the 4 pickup truck’s tires per year to be:
P4 = $1,000

Tire recommendations.

In general, tire rolling resistance is approximately 15 percent of total fuel consumption.

When faced with tires that are similar in terms of grip and ride comfort, it makes sense to use tires that have lower rolling resistance because they provide better fuel economy.

In all tires, lower pressure means greater rolling resistance and higher fuel consumption.

The chart below summarizes the cost per hour consumption of the Ford F150 4×4 from our example.

Cost per hour for a pickup truck – How to calculate equipment operating costs

Cost per hour of the operator.

Labor costs.

The cost of the hourly wage of the worker, plus the social security contributions multiplied by the percentage received, is equal to the hourly cost of the worker.

The remuneration and social security contributions of operators vary considerably according to the country or region in which the work is carried out.

In this example, we will take a salary of 10 USD and social expenses of 65%.

Therefore, the operator’s remuneration and social security contributions are USD 16.50 per hour.

Cost for surveillance.

The cost per hour of surveillance is equal to 10% of the labor cost.

Therefore, the cost per surveillance is:

16.50*10% = 1.65 USD.

The cost of surveillance applies particularly to high-value machinery.

Summary of Total Cost per Hour

The total hourly cost of the Ford F150 4×4 6-cylinder pickup truck in the example is:

  • Fixed hourly cost = USD 5.45 from the previous post.
  • Hourly consumption cost = USD 9.60
  • Labor cost per hour = USD 16.50
  • Surveillance labor costs = USD 1.65

Total Hourly Cost = 5.45 + 9.60 + 16.50 + 1.65 = USD 33.20
